Mortlock to coach Senior Interleague Netball

The McDonald’s Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League are pleased to announce Kylie Mortlock as coach of the senior netball interleague team to take on Colac District FNL in 2019.

Morlock has been involved with the league for several years having been the Junior Netball Development Officer on the Netball Executive as well as coaching the 15 and Under interleague team.

She has a lot of experience coaching and her knowledge of the league is second to none making her an exceptional candidate.

“It is very exciting and it’s an honour to even be asked,” Mortlock said.

“I have worked with the junior level of interleague for a long time and its exciting to be taking that next step and tackling new challenges.

“In some respects, coaching seniors is probably easier than junior because they have good skills and court structure, they could probably coach themselves apart from needing someone there on game day.”

Mortlock has had a decorated career in coaching and playing and is a welcomed addition to the senior program.

Mortlock will be assisted by Ash McLelland from Dunolly who together are hopeful of recruiting some of the best players the MCDFNL has to offer.

Players such as Maddy Egan and Laura Clarkson will be on the radar of coaches.

Mortlock has no preconceived ideas of who will be in the team and encourages all clubs to send players to try outs.

Try outs will take place this Sunday from 4.30pm at the Outdoor Netball Complex on Carrick street.
