Dwyer and LaFranchi join AFL Goldfields

AFL Goldfields is delighted to advise the appointment of 2 new staff members to the AFL Goldfields Regional Administration Centre (RAC).

Simon Dwyer will join the RAC as the new AFL Goldfields Commercial Manager, a position previously held in part by Aaron Nunn.

Aaron’s previous role combined Regional Operations and Commercial activities, but following a review of the organisation structure the role has been revamped to largely have a Commercial focus.

Simon has been involved with local football for the past 30 years mainly through the Central Highlands Football League and Newlyn Football Netball Club where he has been President for the past 6 years.

He has been an active committee person at Newlyn FNC for over 10 years and also played junior football and close to 300 senior games with the same club.

His work background started in travel before moving into Sports Travel working as a Product Manager with Australia’s largest Sports Tours company - Australian Sports Tour.

He has worked on some of the world’s biggest sporting events including multiple FIFA World Cups, ICC Cricket World Cups and Rugby World Cups, fostering relationships with their governing sporting bodies in the process.

Simon is looking forward to being part of the continued growth of local football and netball in our region.

Tegan LaFranchi will join the RAC as the new AFL Goldfields Netball & Female Football Operations Officer.

The previous Netball Operations Co Ordinator role has been expanded to service our growing female football competitions.

Tegan is 21 years old, and has lived in Bacchus Marsh her entire life, attending primary school at St Bernard’s, before completing her secondary school at CRC Melton.

Her passion for sport lead her to undertake a Bachelor of Sports Management at Victoria University, majoring in Sport and Active Communities, which she completed in 2018.

Tegan had previous experience as a Football Operations Assistant with RDFNL during the 2017 season, and as a Fan Engagement Cadet with the Western Bulldogs in 2018 as part of her university placements.

At the conclusion of her second placement with the Bulldogs, she was offered a role as a Membership Services Administrator which she has been working in since September 2018.

Tegan started playing netball at the age of 8 and began playing netball with the Bacchus Marsh Cobras from the inaugural season of junior netball in 2012, and has played there every year since, until deciding to take a season off this year.

Tegan supports the Melbourne Vixens, and has a strong interest in footy, especially the Essendon FC. She also enjoys following American sporting leagues, including the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB.

Tegan and Simon will both commence with AFL Goldfields on Thursday 2nd May 2019.
